e-Transportation Safety Message
To All Buckeye Union Families,
In recent weeks the California Highway Patrol has begun providing unlicensed students with warnings regarding their use of motorized scooters (AKA eScooters) and motorized bikes. This comes on the heels of several local instances in which vehicles have hit students on scooters or pedestrians have been hit as they were walking to and from school by students on scooters.
The requirement that motorized scooters and bikes require a driver’s license has surprised many parents. To assist families with understanding the law, we are partnering with the CHP to build awareness of these regulations and express our concern for the safety of students and the general public.
The following link provides information developed by the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office that will assist families with understanding the regulations associated with different types of transportation that students may be utilizing to get to and from school. CLICK HERE
Please be advised that the CHP intends to continue with its enforcement of these rules and regulations.
